Questions

Everything you're
wondering

Straight answers about matching, employment, pricing and guarantees — for companies and for talent.

The basics

How is this different from a staffing agency?

Agencies optimize for volume — we optimize for fit. We present two or three deeply vetted people per role, stay involved after the hire, and keep compensation transparent for everyone. Placements are designed to last years, not quarters.

Are you an outsourcing or freelancing platform?

Neither. Your team member works exclusively for you, full-time, as part of your team — not on a project marketplace and not shuffled between clients. We're the bridge and the support system, not a middleman renting hours.

Why México specifically?

Real timezone overlap with the US (Central time), a deep pool of world-class professionals, strong English, and cultural proximity that makes collaboration feel local. Same working day, same references, no 12-hour lag.

How selective is the network?

Fewer than 6% of applicants make it in. Every professional goes through skill assessment, a live English conversation, and a culture interview. We say no a lot — that's what makes the matches work.

For companies

How fast can we hire?

Most matches close in 2–4 weeks. You'll see your first curated profiles within about 48 hours of our discovery call — because the vetting already happened, years of it.

How many candidates will we see?

Two or three per role. Not two hundred. Each one is someone we'd hire ourselves, with notes on why we think they fit your specific culture and pace.

What if the match doesn't work out?

It rarely happens — 94% of matches are still thriving after 12 months. But if it does, we re-match you at no additional cost and support the professional through their transition. Nobody gets left behind.

Do we need a legal entity in México?

No. We employ the professional in México and handle everything local. You get one simple monthly invoice and zero administrative weight on your side.

What roles do you cover?

Design, engineering, product, marketing, operations, customer success, AI & data, and finance. If your role sits outside those, ask us anyway — we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.

For talent

Does it cost me anything?

Never. Matching Unicorns is free for talent — always. Our share comes from the company side, it's modest, and it's fully disclosed to you.

Do I need a visa or to relocate?

No. You work remotely from México for a US company. No visa, no relocation — we handle compliance and pay you directly into your account.

How good does my English need to be?

Most of our network is C1 or above, and we evaluate it in a live conversation — not a test. If you're at B2 and close, we'll tell you honestly and offer coaching to get you there.

What happens after I apply?

A human reads your profile the same week. Then assessments and interviews so we truly know you, honest feedback at each step, and — when there's a real fit — we pitch you to companies we trust. You choose.

What if I'm not matched right away?

You stay in the network with feedback on what to strengthen — plus English coaching and growth resources. Many unicorns match on a later role that fits far better than the first one would have.

What support do I get after I'm hired?

A mentor who checks in monthly, help preparing for reviews and raises, benefits and memberships, and a community of peers. We stay with you for years — not until the contract is signed.

Pricing & admin

What does it cost?

One simple monthly rate covering salary, benefits, payroll and our partnership — typically 40–60% less than an equivalent US hire. Unlike traditional intermediaries, our share is modest and fully disclosed to both sides.

Who employs the talent?

We do. Matching Unicorns handles Mexican payroll, benefits, taxes and compliance. Your team member works exclusively for you — with none of the administrative weight on your side.

Are there long-term contracts or lock-ins?

No multi-year lock-in. We'd rather earn the relationship every month than trap you in a contract — and that's exactly why our matches last.

How do timezones and working hours work?

Mexican professionals work US Central hours — real overlap with your whole team, same-day collaboration, no asynchronous guessing.
