✦ Legal
Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect what we need to match you well, we never sell your data, we never share your profile with a company without your go-ahead, and you can ask us to delete everything at any time.
01Who we are
This policy explains how [Legal entity name, S.A. de C.V.], operating as Matching Unicorns ("we", "us"), handles personal data. Our registered address is [registered address], and you can reach our privacy contact at hello@matchingunicorns.com.
This policy covers three groups of people: talent who apply to or join our network, companies that come to us to hire, and visitors to this website.
02What we collect
We only ask for what the matching process actually requires. We never ask for financial account details, government ID numbers or medical information through this website.
If you're talent
- Identity and contact: name, email, city, phone if you choose to give it.
- Professional profile: résumé or CV, work history, skills, portfolio links, salary expectations, availability.
- Assessment material: introduction videos, skill assessments, English evaluation notes, interview notes written by our team.
- References: the name and contact of referees you choose to share, and what they tell us. Please make sure they're comfortable being contacted before you list them.
- Placement records: once matched, the details needed to run payroll and benefits in México, handled under a separate employment agreement.
If you're a company
- Business contact: name, work email, role, company name.
- Hiring context: role requirements, team culture notes, budget range, timelines.
If you're just visiting
- Whatever you send us: the contents of the contact form or an email you write.
- A local theme preference: stored in your own browser, described in section 6.
03Why we use it
- To match you well. Understanding your craft, your goals and your context is the entire product.
- To give you honest feedback. Assessment notes exist so we can tell you where you stand, not to file you away.
- To present you to companies — only after you agree to that specific company, every time.
- To support you after hiring: monthly check-ins, coaching, growth planning.
- To run employment obligations in México: payroll, benefits, taxes, compliance.
- To reply to you when you contact us.
- To improve how we work — reviewing our own process in aggregate.
We do not sell personal data. We do not rent, trade or license it. We don't use your data to train third-party AI models.
05Cross-border transfers
Our work spans México and the United States, so matching necessarily involves sending data across that border — for example, sharing your approved profile with a US company, or storing files with a provider hosted in the US.
When we transfer data internationally we do it under the safeguards required by [applicable data protection law — confirm with counsel], including contractual commitments from our providers. By approving a match with a company in another country, you're agreeing to the transfer that match requires.
06Cookies & tracking
This website sets no tracking cookies. There is no analytics platform, no advertising pixel, no session cookie and no cross-site tracking. We don't build a profile of your browsing.
Two technical details, for completeness:
- Theme preference. If you switch between light and dark mode, we save that choice in your browser's local storage under
mu-theme. It never leaves your device and we can't read it. - Fonts and animation libraries. Typefaces are served from our own site. Animation libraries load from a public CDN (jsDelivr), which — like any file request — means your IP address reaches that provider. We don't receive or store anything from it.
If we ever add analytics, we'll update this section first and choose a privacy-respecting option.
07How long we keep it
- Active talent profiles: for as long as you want to stay in the network. Ask us to remove you and we will.
- Profiles with no activity: reviewed after 24 months; we'll email you before deleting, in case you'd rather stay.
- Employment and payroll records: for the period Mexican law requires us to keep them, which can outlast the working relationship.
- Contact messages: up to 12 months after we've finished helping you.
08Your rights
Whatever jurisdiction you're in, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete your data, where we're not legally required to keep it.
- Object to or limit a particular use — including withdrawing approval for a specific company.
- Get a copy of what you gave us, in a portable format.
If you're in México, these are your ARCO rights (Acceso, Rectificación, Cancelación, Oposición) under the Federal Law on Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties. Email hello@matchingunicorns.com with your request and we'll respond within the legal timeframe — in practice, within a few business days.
Exercising any of these rights costs nothing and will never affect how we treat you as a candidate.
09Security
We keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small, restrict access to the team members who need it, use reputable providers with encryption in transit and at rest, and review who has access as our team changes.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we'll notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires — promptly and in plain language.
10Age requirement
Our services are for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has sent us information, write to us and we'll delete it.
11Changes to this policy
When we update this policy we'll change the "last updated" date at the top. For changes that meaningfully affect how we handle your data, we'll email everyone in the network rather than quietly editing the page.
12Contact us
